Markree Castle is enchanting with its stunning architecture and beautiful grounds. Although the sausages at breakfast were disappointing, the overall experience was remarkable, particularly the welcoming staff and the chance to explore the majestic surroundings. A special mention to Roisin, the charming Irish wolfhound!

During our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed wandering the lovely grounds filled with beautiful gardens and were thrilled that Sligo town and popular beach spots like Strandhill and Rosses Point were just around a 30-minute drive away, making it super easy for us to explore the area.

The room setup was exquisite, with charming decor that made the stay feel special. The staff displayed professionalism, addressing a water issue by promptly relocating us without delay. The grounds were inviting, perfect for a leisurely walk amidst the beauty of nature, which I truly appreciated. The tranquil gardens provided a lovely escape. My partner and I enjoyed a delightful time outdoors, which added to the overall experience.

However, the lack of reliable Wi-Fi access impacted our ability to plan our next day's activities.

It was just a fitting option for a concise stay in Sligo with decent value for money. The grounds included a lovely sculpture garden near the cottages, perfect for a stroll. Make sure to bring a torch when walking back from dinner.

The one-bedroom cottage, part of the beautifully renovated old stable, was perfect for our five-night stay. The modern kitchen and tidy bathroom made cooking enjoyable, enhanced by seasonal dishes served at the castle. Strolling through the scenic grounds and sculpture garden provided peaceful moments, although Wi-Fi would have improved connectivity. The rustic charm and ample space for our dogs made the stay memorable. I particularly appreciated the immaculate condition of the cottage and the friendly assistance from the manager.
